Experience in Ghana

Dr. Liang's experiences in Ghana run the gamut from good to bad. When Dr. Liang first came to Ghana over 20 years ago, she was taken in by the hospitability and cordiality of the Ghanaian people. After several years of investment in the people and in the country, she’s had several experiences, which have made it difficult for her as an investor.

The year 2009 proved to be a very difficult and critical period for Dr. Liang and her family. Several incidences happened in that year that would have put any investor off from ever investing in the country.

It started with the introduction of a so-called investor, by name Mustapha Muradi who turned out to be a fraudster and a scammer. When the truth behind Muradi and his supposed investment became known, he was arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations and subsequently deported to Lebanon, his home country.

There was another case of Rudolph Albertus James Smith who came in as an investor, but claimed that Dr. Liang had duped him of US $10,000. There were several other incidents with Wissam Afara, and Philomena Appiah, all of whom were introduced to Dr. Liang by Effah Asuahene, then the General Manager of CCGIL.

A more serious attack on Dr. Liang’s life came on June 7, 2009 at a restaurant in Tesano, where she was the target out of 60 people of an armed robbery. After investigations were conducted on the incident, it was discovered that Frederick Dickson - the IT Consultant and personal assistant of Dr. Liang had been the brain behind the operation.

He was also caught in a case of pilfering and other deceitful deeds using the good name of Chyuan Chya Ghana Investment for his personal gains. He had been the CEO's trusted confidant for [number of years] but had taken for granted the position he was in and misused his offices to the detriment of himself, the employees of CCGIL and the citizens of Ghana. He made away with tens of thousands of dollars and cedis belonging to the company and from Dr. Liang’s personal account.

In the last quarter of 2009, it came to the notice of Dr. Liang that the company's coffers were in a deficit of close to $3,000,000.00. This was due to a mismanagement of the accounts and the two under investigation are the General Manager Mr. Effah Asuahene and the company's accountant Benjamin Addo Mantey who were unable to provide a breakdown of the audited accounts in a timely manner.

After a lot of pressure they finally presented the account statement, which indicated a huge deficit! Effah Asuahene and Benjamin Addo Mantey were subsequently removed from their positions pending an internal forensic investigation.

Currently, Chyuan Chya Ghana Investment Limited is under temporary closure as a result of this. After a complete and thorough investigation is conducted, an official statement will be released from the company.

What would be ideal would be to have Effah Asuahene, a chartered accountant for over 16 years, come forward and openly explain the deficit in the company he run as General Manager for five (5) years, find solutions to it, before he runs off to start a whole new company.

After a disclaimer was put in the Enquirer newspaper on the 27th of January 2010, Dr. Liang and her Vice President, Wenjen Allan Lan received threatening and insulting phone calls and text messages from their former staff.
